This family-owned and operated business has grown to over 6,000 clients to date. J & K provides basic obedience as well as advanced training programs for the everyday pet. Pepe has been involved in training dogs since 1990. He spent five years as a K-9 handler with the police department in Gainesville, Florida. After retiring from law enforcement, he founded J & K Canine Academy in 1996. He did so after discovering the need for a better understanding of dog behavior, as well as a void in many existing programs which often fell short in meeting the needs of both the owner and dog together.

Pepe also consults for several law enforcement agencies and search and rescue organizations. He authored and published the book "A Common Sense Approach to Dog Training." Pepe has been featured in local, national, and international print and television. One news story was featured on Animal Planet's "DOGS WITH JOBS. " It featured "Petro," one of the dogs he trained after returning from a successful mission in Turkey after a disastrous earthquake. Pepe provides behavior consultations specializing in aggression modification for over 30 veterinarians in north central Florida. His scent division has developed bed bug detection canines using proprietary training methods developed with the University of Florida. The scent division includes bed bug, termite, narcotics, explosives, cadaver, and melanoma cancer (funded by SHANDS Hospital) detection dogs.
